The Project

In order to maintain its marketability and improve the ‘customer experience’, Bristol O2 needed to increase attendance capacity at the venue. TRS Construction Solutions Ltd have worked extensively with Bristol O2 over 10 years and developed the ideas and concept with the design team to terrace the upper floor mezzanine to increase the standing areas.

This work required the underside of the mezzanine to be fire stopped which was a significant amount of work in its own right. The works were programmed to meet strict timelines to ensure no ‘gigs’ would be affected and hence the potential significant financial implications mitigated. Works included:

Balcony works

  • Installing a full timber structure to form the terracing
  • Floor finishes and decorations throughout
  • Floor finishes and decorations throughout
  • Ceiling alterations
  • Ventilation installations
  • Electrical and building services installations
  • Main bar firestopping works and finishes reinstatement

Added Value

TRS Construction Solutions Ltd challenged the structural engineers design form the outset. This indicated some significant builders works, and implications to other parts
of the main area and bar areas. We instigated a series of intrusive surveys to investigate potential alternative options for the build. These provided us with information to go back to the engineer with alternative proposals.

Ultimately, this provided a £48,000 saving against a significantly over budget project, and took 3 weeks off of an extremely tight programme period. Alongside a high quality and well managed project, Live Nation specifically praised us for our commitment and overall management of the project which was now under budget.
